Bequests and Planned Giving
Leave a Legacy to the Minneapolis Libraries!
You can help to ensure that everyone who comes
to our libraries seeking information will find what they are
looking for. Even long after you are gone, you can make a
significant difference year after year.
Leave a legacy to Minneapolis Public
Libraries (MPL) by making a gift through your estate that is
directed for use at the Central Library, one of the community
libraries in Minneapolis, or the consolidated Hennepin County
Library (HCL) system. You may also restrict your gift to specific
areas of the collections at MPL or HCL.
Please consider making a gift of cash or stock
to The Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library in your will or
designate The Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library a
beneficiary of your retirement plan, IRA, or life insurance
policy.
You may dedicate your gift to one of the
following funds:
-
The Collection Endowment: A gift to The
Friends’ Collection Endowment will help ensure that the MPL
collection remains the deepest and most comprehensive public
library collection in Minnesota. Books purchased with your gift
will be bookplated with the name you designate, annually in
perpetuity.
-
The Program Endowment: A gift to The
Friends’ Program Endowment will support a wide range of
educational initiatives that promote library use, lifelong
learning, and community dialogue.
-
The Friends’ Endowment: A gift to The
Friends’ Endowment will go into an unrestricted endowment fund
that will support The Friends’ and the library’s greatest special
short-term needs and unanticipated future challenges.
If you wish to restrict your bequest for a
specific purpose, or if you wish to establish a named endowment
fund, please contact The Friends.
Donations to The Friends’ endowment funds can
be made at any time, but for many individuals, a gift in your will
or estate plan is the easiest way to make a truly significant
contribution.
